11 - COMMUNITY CARE NETWORK

The mission of the VHA is to provide timely, effective care to all veterans, whatever their circumstance. This can involve the community care network, where veterans are referred to specialists outside the VHA system. To learn more about how the VHA works to coordinate such care, watch the video above.

12 - Fourth Mission

The VHA exists for not one, but four special reasons. First, to provide veterans with the healthcare they deserve. Second, to aggressively pursue advances in medicine and technology. Third, to provide education to the next generation of medical professions. Last but not least, the VA steps in whenever and wherever the American healthcare system is overwhelmed, particularly during times of crisis.

23 - VETERANS MENTAL EVALUATION TEAM

The VHA has been serving veterans for 75 years. Recently, they launched their new VMET pilot program that pairs a police officer with a clinical social worker to reconnect with veterans in crisis and help them get the care they deserve.

38 - VETERAN HOMELESSNESS

When Monte Daugharty returned from his deployment he struggled with his experiences and turned to the VA. There, he found camaraderie, connection and a future. After getting back on his feet, he stayed with the VA to help battle veteran homelessness during the COVID-19 pandemic.
